Education Abroad
6 questions
Which countries does NGI Academy support for overseas education?
We support placements across 30+ countries. The most popular destinations for Indian
students are:
- USA, UK, Canada, Australia — top choice for MS, MBA, and UG programs
- Ireland, New Zealand, Singapore — growing alternatives with strong post-study work rights
- Germany, France, Switzerland, Sweden — Europe's best for affordable or tuition-free programs
- Russia, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Ukraine — MBBS programs
- Dubai, Malaysia, Malta, South Korea — emerging study destinations
When should I start planning my study abroad application?
We recommend starting 12–18 months before your intended intake.
This gives enough time for:
- IELTS / TOEFL / GRE / GMAT preparation (3–6 months)
- University research and shortlisting (1–2 months)
- SOP writing, LOR collection, application submission (2–3 months)
- Visa application and financial documentation (2–3 months)
Starting early also opens more scholarship windows and gives you
time to strengthen your profile if needed.
What is the difference between Fall and Spring intake?
Fall intake (August/September) is the primary intake — the majority
of programs, scholarships, and university spots are available. Spring
intake (January) is a secondary intake with fewer programs but a useful
option if you missed the Fall deadline or need more time to prepare. NGI Academy
counsellors help you pick the right intake based on your readiness and target
universities.
Can I apply to multiple countries at the same time?
Absolutely — and we encourage it. Applying to 2–3 countries simultaneously maximises
your chances of admission and also gives you leverage to compare offers. NGI Academy
manages multi-country applications, ensuring each application is tailored to that
country's specific requirements (SOP angle, document format, application portal).
How important is a Statement of Purpose (SOP)? Can NGI Academy help write it?
An SOP is often the most decisive document in your application —
especially at competitive universities where thousands of applicants have similar
academic profiles. A well-crafted SOP tells your story, explains your career goals,
and connects your background to the program you're applying for.
Yes, NGI Academy provides SOP writing and review services. Our writers work with you in multiple review rounds to produce a final SOP that is compelling, authentic, and tailored to each university.

Do I need work experience to apply for a Master's program abroad?
For STEM MS programs (CS, Engineering, Data Science) — work
experience is generally not required. You can apply straight from a Bachelor's
degree. For MBA programs, most top schools require 2–5 years of
professional experience. For Management MS programs (Finance,
Marketing, Supply Chain), requirements vary — some welcome fresh graduates while
others prefer 1–2 years of experience.

MBBS Abroad
5 questions
Which countries are best for MBBS abroad for Indian students in 2026?
The most popular and NMC-recognised MBBS destinations for Indian students are:
- Russia — Largest destination, affordable fees (₹15–25 lakh total), 6-year program including internship
- Georgia — European recognition, English-medium, affordable living (₹20–35 lakh total)
- Kazakhstan & Kyrgyzstan — Budget-friendly, NMC-listed universities
- Germany & Poland — For high-achieving students seeking a European degree
- Vietnam — Emerging destination with competitive fees
Always verify NMC (National Medical Commission, India) recognition
before enrolling in any MBBS program abroad.
Is NEET mandatory to study MBBS abroad?
Yes — NEET is mandatory for all Indian students who wish to
practice medicine in India after completing MBBS abroad. The NMC requires a
qualifying NEET score for admission to foreign medical universities. While some
countries don't require NEET for admission, you must have qualified NEET to
eventually appear in India's Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE) and obtain
an Indian medical licence.
What is FMGE / NExT and when do I need to clear it?
FMGE (Foreign Medical Graduate Examination) is the screening test
conducted by NMC that foreign MBBS graduates must clear to practice medicine in
India. It is being replaced by NExT (National Exit Test), which
will serve as both the final MBBS exam and the licensing test for all graduates —
both Indian and foreign-trained.
NGI Academy provides dedicated FMGE/NExT coaching as part of the post-graduation support for MBBS abroad students.
NGI Academy provides dedicated FMGE/NExT coaching as part of the post-graduation support for MBBS abroad students.
How much does MBBS abroad cost compared to private medical colleges in India?
MBBS abroad is significantly more affordable than most private medical colleges in
India:
- Russia — ₹20–30 lakh total (6 years, all inclusive)
- Georgia — ₹25–40 lakh total
- Kazakhstan / Kyrgyzstan — ₹15–22 lakh total
- Private medical colleges in India — ₹50 lakh – ₹1.5 Cr (management quota) for the same duration
All estimates above include tuition, hostel, and food. Actual
costs may vary by university and city.
Are hostels provided? Is food suitable for Indian students?
Most NMC-recognised universities in Russia, Georgia, and Central Asia provide
on-campus or university-affiliated hostels. Indian student
communities at these universities have established their own canteens and tiffin
services providing Indian vegetarian and non-vegetarian food. NGI Academy
coordinates hostel booking and connects you with existing Indian student networks
before departure.
Education Loans
5 questions
How much education loan can I get for studying abroad?
Loan amounts vary by lender and type:
- Public sector banks (SBI, Bank of Baroda) — Up to ₹1.5 Cr with collateral
- Private banks (ICICI, Axis, HDFC) — Up to ₹75 lakh – ₹1 Cr
- NBFCs (HDFC Credila, Avanse, Prodigy Finance) — Up to ₹1.5 Cr; Prodigy and MPower are collateral-free for select universities
What is the difference between a collateral and non-collateral education loan?
A collateral loan requires you to pledge a physical asset
(property, FD, LIC policy) as security. These typically offer lower interest rates
(8.5–11% p.a.) and higher loan amounts. A non-collateral (unsecured)
loan doesn't require any asset — only income proof from a co-applicant.
These are faster to process but carry slightly higher interest rates (11–14% p.a.).
NBFCs like Prodigy Finance and MPower offer purely income-free unsecured loans for
students admitted to specific top universities.
When do I need to start repaying my education loan?
Most Indian education loans come with a moratorium period — you
don't have to repay the principal while studying. The moratorium typically covers
the course duration plus 6 to 12 months after graduation (to allow
time to find a job). Interest accrues during this period; some banks allow you to
pay simple interest during the moratorium to reduce total outgo.
Starting early EMI payments (even small amounts during study) can
significantly reduce total interest paid over the loan tenure.
Does NGI Academy charge a fee for education loan assistance?
No — absolutely zero charges to students for loan comparison,
documentation, or bank introductions. NGI Academy also receives no commission from
banks or NBFCs for referrals. Our loan support is a free service offered to all our
students to ensure you find the best deal without any bias.
Can I get a loan pre-approved before I receive my admission offer letter?
Yes — several lenders offer an in-principle pre-approval even
before you receive the formal offer letter. This is particularly useful for visa
financial proof, where embassies need to see sufficient funds. Once you receive your
final offer letter and I-20/CAS, the loan is converted to a full sanction. NGI
Academy facilitates same-day pre-approval with select NBFC partners.
Test Preparation
5 questions
IELTS vs TOEFL vs PTE vs DET — which should I take?
All four test English proficiency, but they differ in format and acceptance:
- IELTS — Accepted worldwide; paper and computer-based; speaking is face-to-face. Preferred for UK, Australia, Canada, and many European universities.
- TOEFL iBT — Widely accepted in the USA; all sections are computer-based including speaking (recorded). Preferred at US universities.
- PTE Academic — Fully computer-based; fast results (1–5 days). Growing acceptance in UK, Australia.
- Duolingo English Test (DET) — Online at home; fast results; growing acceptance at 5,000+ universities including many US programs.
Your target country/university should guide the choice. NGI
Academy helps you decide based on your shortlist.
Is GRE mandatory for MS programs in the USA in 2026?
Post-2020, an increasing number of US universities have made GRE optional for MS
applications. However, a strong GRE score (320+ out of 340) still strengthens
applications at competitive programs and can improve scholarship eligibility. For
PhD programs, GRE is more commonly required. NGI Academy helps you decide on a
case-by-case basis whether GRE is worth taking for your specific university
shortlist.
What IELTS score do I need to study in the UK / Australia / Canada?
Minimum IELTS requirements vary:
- UK Student Visa — Overall 5.5–6.5 (depending on UKVI vs standard IELTS)
- UK Universities — Most require 6.5 overall, no band below 6.0
- Australia — Student Visa requires overall 5.5–6.0; universities typically ask for 6.5 overall
- Canada — Study Permit requires 6.0; top universities ask for 6.5–7.0
- USA — Most prefer TOEFL, but if accepting IELTS, typically 6.5–7.5
How long does test preparation take and does NGI Academy offer coaching?
Typical preparation timelines:
- IELTS / TOEFL / PTE — 6–12 weeks of focused preparation
- GRE — 3–6 months for a competitive score (320+)
- GMAT — 3–6 months for a competitive score (700+)
How many times can I retake IELTS or TOEFL if I don't get the required score?
There is no limit on how many times you can take IELTS or TOEFL.
However, British Council and IDP recommend waiting at least 3 months between
attempts to allow meaningful improvement. Universities consider your best
score, so retaking is encouraged if you fall short. For TOEFL, ETS
allows MyBest Scores — where the highest scores from each section across all valid
attempts are combined.

includes public transport passes). Living costs in cities like Berlin, Munich, or
Stuttgart run approximately €800–€1,200/month. Programs are available in both German
and English; however, German-taught programs require B2/C1 level German proficiency.
NGI Academy provides German language coaching (A1 to C1) and
handles the entire German university application process.
How do I show proof of funds for a student visa without a bank balance?
If you don't have sufficient funds in a bank account, you can show financial
capacity through:
- Education loan sanction letter — Most embassies accept a formal sanction from a recognised bank or NBFC
- Scholarship award letter — If covering tuition and/or living expenses
- Sponsor letter — If a family member is funding your education (with their income proof and relationship document)
- Provident fund or property documents — As evidence of assets if not immediately liquid
